Cancellation & Rescheduling
Two hours is the line. Before it, cancelling is free. Inside it, the lesson is paid to your teacher.
If a student cancels
You can cancel a booked lesson at any time up to its start. What changes at the two-hour mark is not whether you may cancel, but who bears the cost.
- Two hours or more before the start: your lesson credit returns to your package and your teacher earns nothing for it.
- Less than two hours before the start: the lesson is treated as taught. Your credit is used, your teacher receives their 80% and Coursity retains its 20%.
- A free trial has no monetary value, so cancelling one costs nothing either way.
If a teacher cancels
A teacher may cancel at any notice, and the cost is theirs. Every student's lesson credit is returned in full, and the teacher earns nothing for that lesson — including any amount already recorded against it, which is reversed.
You lose no paid value when a teacher cancels. If a teacher cancels repeatedly, that is a matter for Coursity and it is recorded.
Reasons are required
Every cancellation, by either side, requires a reason, and the other person is shown it. Coursity records who cancelled, when, why, what it cost, and what happened to the lesson credit. Those records are kept as part of the account history.
Rescheduling
Rescheduling moves an existing lesson rather than cancelling and rebuying it, so the payment, the credit and the history stay attached to the same lesson. Nothing is charged and nothing is refunded.
Either side may propose a new time from the teacher's free slots, with a reason. The other side accepts or declines — a reschedule is never unilateral. Both are notified immediately, and the request, the reason and the answer are all kept.
- A reschedule cannot be requested inside two hours of the start.
- A proposed time that fills before it is accepted is refused; pick another.
- Only one request can be in flight per lesson at a time.
No-shows
If a student does not attend and does not cancel, the lesson is treated as delivered and settles like any other. If a teacher does not attend, report an issue on the lesson: the payment is held and reviewed rather than released, and the credit is restored where the report is upheld.
Times and time zones
All scheduling on Coursity is in Asia/Beirut. Times are displayed in your language's formatting but refer to the same moment for everyone, so the two-hour boundary means the same thing wherever you are.
