Teacher Marketplace Terms

What you keep, when you keep it, and what you commit to by publishing a price.

A clear product draft describing how the platform actually behaves. It is not legal advice and is pending professional review.

Your relationship with Coursity

You teach on Coursity as an independent teacher, not an employee. You set your own prices, your own availability and your own teaching approach. Coursity provides the marketplace, the classroom, the payment rail and the records.

You are responsible for your own tax and any local registration your teaching requires. Coursity does not withhold tax on your behalf.

Approval and listing

Your profile becomes publicly listed only after Coursity approves your application. Approval may be withheld, and an approved account may be suspended, where the information given is inaccurate, where documents cannot be verified, or where conduct breaches these terms.

Your application and its documents are retained for audit after approval. They are visible to Coursity administrators and are not published.

Commission

Coursity retains 20% of the gross amount of each confirmed lesson. You receive 80%. There is no listing fee, no subscription and no charge on a lesson that did not take place.

The rate applied is the one in force at the time the lesson is earned, and it is stored on the earning record. If the platform rate changes, lessons you have already taught keep the rate they were taught under.

When earnings become available

An earning is recorded when a lesson is delivered and is held as reserved. It becomes available when the student confirms the lesson, or when Coursity settles it automatically after the grace period where the lesson is shown as attended or completed and nothing about it is disputed.

A lesson you cancel earns nothing, and any amount already recorded for it is reversed. A lesson a student cancels less than two hours before the start is payable to you and is released immediately.

Where a student reports a problem, that lesson's earning is held pending review and may be reversed.

Payouts

You may request a payout of any amount up to your available balance. The request is recorded against your balance at the moment it is made, so the same money cannot be requested twice, and Coursity then transfers it to the payout account you have given.

Coursity records the payout rail and a reference, never your account credentials. Transfers are subject to the payment provider's own processing times and limits.

Packages and commitments

Offering a package is a commitment to deliver those lessons within a reasonable period. Coursity limits which package sizes can be sold on your profile based on the availability you have declared, so that a student cannot buy more lessons than your calendar can hold — keeping your availability accurate is part of that commitment.

A custom package is available only after Coursity approves it, and only on your own profile. Approval may be withdrawn if the package is not being delivered as described.

Conduct

  • Teach the lessons you have been booked for, at the times agreed, and reschedule rather than cancel where you can.
  • Do not arrange lessons, payments or contact off the platform. Doing so removes every protection these terms describe, for you as well as the student, and is grounds for suspension.
  • Do not share a student's personal information, or recordings and materials from a lesson, outside the lesson.
  • Treat students, and any parent or guardian involved, with professional respect. Coursity may suspend an account over conduct while a report is reviewed.

Leaving

You may stop teaching at any time. Lessons already booked should be taught or rescheduled; where that is not possible, cancelling returns every affected student's credit in full.

Available earnings remain payable to you after you stop. Reserved earnings for lessons that will now not be taught are reversed and the credits returned to the students who bought them.
